Braden Burke is Dr. Burke’s 21 year old nephew and a former patient here at Burke Ortho. Braden was born in St. George, Utah and played baseball at Pine View High. His senior year Braden transferred up to Emery High School to get in touch with his parents’ hometown roots. As a kid, Braden was very active and loved to be outside. You could always find Braden out in the dirt or in the water.

Something many people don’t know about Braden is that he is battling cancer. Two years ago Braden was Diagnosed with stage 2C melanoma. After two surgeries Braden thought he was in remission, but eight weeks ago his doctors told him that new tumors are growing quickly. He has now been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma with tumors on his brain and lungs. Braden has had such a positive attitude and he doesn’t let his cancer define him. He continues to live every day to the fullest and is determined to beat cancer once again.

We had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Battle for Braden fundraiser put on for him by his family and friends. The fundraiser was held at Staheli Family Farm on Saturday, October 7th. Over 20 business donated items to be auctioned off to help raise money for Braden. We are proud to say that over $12,000 was raised for Braden that night. We are so grateful for all of the love and support from the community to help Braden overcome this fight.
