These past few weeks we had the opportunity to help the SUNYFL Pine View 8th grade football team fundraise for their tournament in Mesquite, Nevada. This is the 2017 U.S.A. Invitational Regional Championship and it is quite an honor to be able to play in this tournament.
These boys have competed in this championship for the past 3 years and each year they have taken home the championship title. Along with taking home the “W” these boys have been undefeated in all of their pre, post, and regular season games for 3 years running. They sure do know a thing or two about football and what it means to work as a team.

In order to be a part of the team the coaches have set some pretty high standards when it comes to the education and attitude of their players. Each team member must have a GPA of at least 3.5 and most are on the high honor roll at their school. Along with this, the boys are required to participate in two service projects each year. This year they helped Habitat for Humanity, where they built a retaining wall for a family receiving a home through Habitat for Humanity, and they also helped at Red Rock Center for Independence, where the boys volunteered by working at a carnival for people with disabilities. They have been striving to focus on looking outside of themselves and trying to serve others. These boys are a perfect definition and example of what it means to Smile forward.
